Wallester’s support for Naerata Ometi is part of our ongoing commitment to practical community work. The Estonian NGO has been active since 2009, providing direct assistance to families and individuals facing difficult circumstances. The range is wide: emergency relief, housing improvements, rehabilitation support, disability assistance, help for families experiencing financial hardship, and more.
Naerata Ometi’s approach is hands-on. The NGO focuses on specific cases and specific needs, whether that means helping a family recover after a fire, improving living conditions, funding rehabilitation, or providing essential household items and support services.
As part of our partnership, Wallester receives regular updates on the projects currently underway. Two new cases have already been launched this year that highlight both the scale of the challenges some families face and the importance of timely community support.
What Naerata Ometi Is Working On Right Now
One of the organisation’s current projects focuses on Riina, a single mother of seven children living in Central Estonia.
After leaving two abusive relationships, Riina has been raising her children alone while dealing with significant health problems of her own. The family’s current rental apartment has become increasingly difficult to live in due to dampness, mould, and poor heating conditions. The children are frequently ill and often need to wear heavy clothing indoors during colder periods.
Now the family has found a safer and warmer home. However, the move has created new challenges. The apartment is largely unfurnished, relocation costs are significant, and a contractual dispute with the previous landlord has added further financial pressure.
Naerata Ometi is currently helping the family with moving expenses, legal assistance, furniture, clothing, food, and other essential household items. The organisation is also seeking donations of practical goods, including children’s furniture, bicycles, blankets, and clothing.
Another active project focuses on Margus and Klaarikafrom Harju County.
Last autumn, a fire destroyed the home they had spent nearly three decades building and renovating. The tragedy also claimed the life of a family member. Almost all of the family’s possessions were lost in the fire. The house was uninsured, so rebuilding on the same scale is simply impossible.
The family is now working towards a more modest goal: constructing a smaller home that can provide stability and allow them to gradually rebuild their lives.
Naerata Ometi is supporting the project through fundraising, coordination, and efforts to secure building materials and practical assistance. Also, the organisation is looking for contacts within the construction and modular housing sectors who may be able to contribute expertise or resources.
Why This Work Matters
The situations described above are very different, but they share a common point. Both involve families facing challenges that cannot be solved quickly through conventional channels.
This is where organisations such as Naerata Ometi play an important role. By combining donations, volunteer support, professional expertise, and local networks, they can respond to situations that require immediate and highly practical assistance.
For Wallester, supporting this work is part of a broader commitment to the communities in which we operate. The company continues to grow internationally, but we believe it is essential to support organisations that create impact at a local level.
How to Help
Further information about these projects, along with donation details and current needs, is available on Naerata Ometi’s website.
Whether through financial contributions, donated goods, professional expertise, or volunteer support, every contribution helps the organisation continue its work and provide practical assistance to families when they need it most. Even a small contribution can help close part of the gap.
