Every company has its traditions, and at Wallester one of them is Summer Days. It’s an opportunity for colleagues to step away from their desks, get out of the office, and spend time together outside, enjoying a day built around teamwork, friendly competition, and good company.
This year’s edition took place just outside Tallinn, Estonia, in the countryside, where colleagues gathered for an afternoon and evening of activities, great food, games, and celebrations.
The weather, however, had plans of its own. Rain arrived early and stayed for most of the day. But as it turned out, that only made the activities more memorable and after all, the Wallester team are a hardy bunch who don’t let a bit of weather get in the way of having fun. Also, a huge thank you goes to our Events team, who, despite the conditions, delivered impeccably.

Building the Cars
After lunch, colleagues were divided into fifteen teams and given an unusual challenge: build a race car.
Each team received a wooden base, cardboard, tools, tape, and a limited amount of fictional money. Before construction could begin, teams had to visit a mock marketplace and bid for essential parts needed for the competition later in the day.
It turned out to be less about engineering and more about teamwork and creativity. Some teams focused on speed. Others focused on design. One car featured flowers and decorative greenery. Another looked more like a traditional racing car, complete with a front section and roof. Every vehicle also needed a driver and a helmet.
Once construction was complete, teams presented their creations and explained the thinking behind them. Colleagues then voted for the most creative design. The winning entry came from the team whose attention to detail and decoration helped them stand out from the competition.

Then Came the Racing
Teams competed in a relay-style challenge that involved pit stops, driver changes, helmet swaps, and wheel adjustments along the route. The rain had turned the course into a slippery obstacle, making things considerably more difficult.
Cars lost parts. Wheels came loose. The cardboard softened and began falling apart. So by the end of the races, many of the vehicles barely resembled the creations that had been proudly presented earlier in the afternoon. What started as carefully designed race cars gradually became little more than wooden platforms on wheels.
Of course, that only added to the entertainment and made parts of the race quite hilarious. y. After several rounds and a final race between the fastest teams, Team Wild Horizon emerged victorious, with their car proving to be the quickest on the day.

An Evening of Celebration
With the competition complete, attention shifted indoors.
Colleagues gathered for dinner before moving on to the evening programme, which included hosted games, musical bingo, lounge areas, and plenty of opportunities to catch up with colleagues from different teams and offices.
Later in the evening, guests also enjoyed a fire performance before the celebrations continued with music, dancing, and a DJ set.

A Tradition Worth Keeping
Summer Days has become an important part of Wallester’s calendar because it offers something increasingly valuable in a growing international company: time together.
Projects, meetings, and messages connect teams throughout the year. Events like Summer Days create the space for conversations that don’t happen on calls and for relationships that extend beyond everyday work.
And judging by the atmosphere throughout the day, the rain never really stood a chance of getting in the way.
